Victoria’s credentials as the country’s fast emerging leader in medicinal cannabis has been strengthened with the opening of the State’s first dedicated commercial medicinal cannabis processing facility.
MediPharm Labs facility in Wonthaggi, in south east Victoria, will process up to 75,000 kilograms of medicinal cannabis into resin each year for use in medicinal products.
As part of its $10 million investment project, the company will partner with more than 50 agricultural growers across Australia, including 30 from Victoria.
Invest Victoria has supported MediPharm Labs entry to the State by facilitating discussions with the local council and assisting to resolve planning permit challenges.
In this watershed moment, MediPharm Labs is proud to be opening the first specialised cannabis manufacturing facility in the state of Victoria setting the gold standard for this new and exciting industry.

MediPharm Labs is one of a number of global manufacturing companies, such as The Cronos Group and Canopy Growth Corporation, that have invested in Victoria’s thriving medicinal cannabis industry.
The Medicinal Cannabis Industry Development Plan sets out a strategy to grow Victoria’s medicinal cannabis industry into an established sector and aims to have the State supplying half of Australia’s medicinal cannabis by 2028.
