Warracknabeal Energy Park has received sign-off on its Environment Effects Statement (EES), marking the most significant milestone so far in Victoria’s assessment process.

Victoria’s clean energy sector is creating new opportunities for investors, with the Warracknabeal Energy Park reaching a key milestone in the approvals process.

If completed, the proposed 219-turbine development would generate more than 1.5 gigawatts of renewable energy — enough to power up to 1.2 million homes.

It would also become the highest-producing wind facility in Victoria, supplying around 12.5 per cent of the state’s future energy needs and making a major contribution to the state’s clean energy transformation.

The project is expected to create almost 950 jobs during construction, with ongoing local employment opportunities once operational.

Victoria’s clean energy advantage

Projects like the Warracknabeal Energy Park are also important to achieving Victoria’s renewable energy targets of 65 per cent by 2030 and 95 per cent by 2035.

The Victorian Government is supporting projects that help decarbonise the energy system and reduce emissions, while building the capacity needed to support future energy demand.

Victoria offers a strong environment for renewable energy investment, including:

  • access to wind and solar opportunities
  • a growing clean energy market
  • development of enabling infrastructure
  • skilled talent and supply chain capability
  • strong long-term demand for renewable energy solutions.
