OMICRON electronics has completed an AUD $3.5 million relocation and expansion of its facilities in Mill Park, Victoria, strengthening its operations in Australia, New Zealand and across the Pacific region.
For OMICRON, a global company specialising in power systems testing, monitoring, diagnostic and cybersecurity technologies, the new facility marks a significant milestone, enhancing its capacity to support a growing customer base throughout the region.
Maryam Khallaghi, Regional Manager, Pacific - OMICRON said
OMICRON’s investment in our new world-class servicing and training facility in Mill Park marks a major step forward for Australia, Oceania and the wider Pacific region.
Spanning four times the size of its previous facility in Bundoora, the new location enhances the company's ability to serve and support critical infrastructure operators in energy generation, transmission and distribution.
By quadrupling our space, we’ve expanded our Service Centre for faster turnarounds and to provide repair and calibration services for a broader product portfolio.
This will help critical infrastructure operators minimise downtime, maintain service continuity and strengthen the resilience of essential power systems.
The new Mill Park site features a dedicated Customer Service Centre, cutting-edge training facilities, modern office space and expanded warehousing capacity.
The Customer Service Centre now has increased capacity for equipment repairs and calibration. Faster turnaround times mean customers—ranging from utility companies to key infrastructure operators—can address disruptions and operational downtime more efficiently. These improvements are set to provide seamless service continuity across Australia and throughout the Pacific region.
Our upscaled OMICRON Academy facility - with hands‑on demonstration areas - will enable us to offer more technical training and workshops for our customers.
This enables energy network operators to bridge the industry skills gap, in particular, for the next generation of technical professionals.
Its training offerings have been elevated by the new, high-tech facilities, including a dedicated demonstration area for hands-on professional development. It is now able to host 10–15% more training workshops annually, directly addressing Australia’s scarcity of specialist expertise in high-voltage electrical systems engineering. These workshops benefit hundreds of industry professionals, equipping power systems field engineers and technicians to meet the challenges posed by the rapid evolution of energy systems.
Strategic location in Melbourne’s north
Mill Park was selected for strategic location, access to a growing workforce, and cost advantages compared to inner city locations.
Located within Melbourne’s northern growth corridor - one of the fastest-expanding population areas – the area provides access to a large and diverse talent pool from entry-level through to skilled workers.
Proximity to leading education providers, including RMIT University (Bundoora campus) and La Trobe University supports workforce development and ongoing training.
The location also offers lower land and lease costs than central and inner suburbs, making it well suited to their larger footprints needs.
Mill Park is well connected to major arterial roads, including the Metropolitan Ring Road, providing sufficient access to key industrial hubs like Epping, Thomastown and Campbellfield as well as Melbourne Airport. With nearby rail access and ample parking, the site is easily accessible for both employees and customers.
Commitment to long-term regional growth
The Mill Park expansion highlights longstanding efforts by OMICRON to reinforce its presence in the Australian, New Zealand and Pacific power systems markets.
We are proud to enable our team to offer onshore, extraordinary levels of support for our valued customers and partners.
With plans to grow our Australian-based team by at least 20% in 2026 to meet strong regional demand driven by electrification, ageing infrastructure and evolving cyber‑resilience requirements, this new facility positions us to more scalably and efficiently support our regional customers as they modernise, decarbonise and secure their power systems.
This expanded capacity will support the growing demand for OMICRON’s technology portfolio for energy grid providers and other critical infrastructure operators amidst the transition to net zero emissions and rising electrification needs.
Manfred Strauss, Leadership team member, OMICRON:
The Pacific energy market is undergoing significant transformation. Electrification, renewable integration, ageing assets and growing pressure on efficiency and reliability are increasing complexity for customers across the region.
Expanding our team is about being closer to our customers and strengthening our ability to support them with technical expertise, service, training and knowledge transfer. Customers are looking not only for technology, but also for trusted partners who can help them manage this complexity with confidence.
