Amazon Australia will boost its footprint in Victoria with the establishment of its second fulfilment centre in Melbourne.

The new facility – almost double the size of the MCG - will be built in Ravenhall in Melbourne’s western suburbs and operate alongside its existing distribution centre in Dandenong South, in the city’s south east.

Set to open late next year, the fulfilment centre will help Amazon to meet growing customer demand, increase delivery speed for a wider selection of products for Victorian customers and create around 300 jobs on completion.

The fulfilment centre will house millions of products, ranging from health, household and personal care products, consumer electronics, books, clothing and pantry staples, to larger items like flat screen TVs, cartons of soft drink or nappies, and gardening equipment.

Earlier this year, Amazon expanded its logistics network in Melbourne to take advantage of the city’s strong freight connectivity, with extensive road and rail networks linked to air and seaports.
