Data Centres Australia and the Victorian Government have been named as strategic partners delivering a major global data centre industry conference in Melbourne, recognising Australia’s growing reputation as a major hub for AI infrastructure investment.

Melbourne has been selected to host two major international technology events in September 2026, strengthening Victoria’s profile as a hub for data centres, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital infrastructure investment.
Data Center World Australia and The AI Summit Australia will be held together at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, bringing senior global leaders, investors and operators to Victoria. The events are expected to attract more than 1,000 delegates and generate around $4 million in visitor economy activity.
Melbourne will also host the inaugural Data Centres Australia Excellence Awards, recognising leadership and innovation across Australia’s data centre sector and showcasing domestic capability to an international audience.
Why this matters for investors
Victoria is home to Australia’s largest concentration of AI companies and a rapidly expanding data centre market, underpinned by strong energy, skills and digital ecosystems. Hosting these globally recognised events signals confidence in the state’s market depth and long-term growth prospects.
For investors, the events offer:

Strong government and industry backing
The events were secured through collaboration between the Victorian Government, the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions, the Melbourne Convention Bureau and Business Events Australia.
