Pacific Alliance Free Trade Agreement

Australia and the Pacific Alliance - a regional trading bloc comprising Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru launched negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on 30 June 2021. A Pacific Alliance FTA would ensure Australia is well-placed to share in Latin America's economic growth, enabling Australian businesses access to the opportunities presented by that growing market, strengthen our economic relationship and provide opportunities for Australian businesses to diversify their export markets.

Australia also has double taxation agreements with Chile and Argentina, which facilitate trade and investment across jurisdictions.
