Victoria is the most highly educated state in Australia. More than half of all Victorians aged 20-64 hold some form of post secondary qualifications. The University of Melbourne is the highest ranked university in Australia and the third highest in Asia Pacific3 and Monash University has the largest student body of all Australian universities. These are just two reasons why Victoria produces significant numbers of high quality talent.

In 2017, Victoria attracted over 799,391 international students, 13 per cent more than 2016. Of the 253,076 international higher education students studying in Victoria, over 80,137 (32 per cent of the national total) are from China and over 40,332 (16 per cent of the national total) are from India. This large international student base comprises over 100,000 foreign language speakers, including speakers from across the Asia Pacific.5
In addition, Melbourne has a thriving community of quality multilingual and culturally aware professionals. Over 260 languages and dialects are spoken in Melbourne with over 600,000 Asian language and 500,000 European language speakers (other than English).6
