Victoria’s relationship with the United Kingdom



Victoria has a strong relationship with the United Kingdom which includes a history of mutual business participation. The United Kingdom has a traditionally played a vital role in the Victorian economy as both a source of imports and as an export destination.

The Victorian Government maintains a strong presence in the UK with a Victorian Government business office located in London. This office has the dual aim of both developing and maintaining relationships with potential and current UK based investors and encouraging Victorian exports into the UK.

The State of Victoria has a long standing sister-state relationship with Scotland. The Victorian Government looks forward to continuing to foster a mutually beneficial relationship with the United Kingdom’s business community.


Victoria’s major investors from the United Kingdom



There are several prominent United Kingdom companies currently operating in Victoria that cover a wide range of sectors.

Defence giant BAE systems have a strong presence. AXA and JP Morgan are Financial Services companies with offices in Melbourne.

The State of Victoria places an emphasis on the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Biotechnology sectors. Vertex and GlaxoSmithKline have operations based in Victoria.
