(AUS 2016) Freestyle Technology has established a new research and development centre in Mount Waverley

Founded in Melbourne in 2006, Freestyle Technology provides IoT-enabled smart water, gas and renewable energy management / microgrid solutions for Asia-Pacific utility and public sector clients. Freestyle offices are located in Melbourne, Tokyo, Taipei and Seoul.

Freestyle technology is seeing international and domestic growth and has recently completed the largest smart water project in South Korea for billing accuracy and leakage detection and the largest Smart Gas project in Taiwan for public / home safety and bill accuracy. Domestically, completed projects include those at Jemena for capacity planning and profiling and at SA Power and AusNet for grid stabilisation.

To meet growing demand, the new research centre will boost the company’s efforts to establish its interoperable and open IoT solutions as the standard for smart grids and smart cities.

Freestyle Technology chose Melbourne for their expansion because of:

  • Early access to capital from sophisticated private investors
  • Availability of cutting-edge technology, management and language skills
  • Ability to partner with local firms and universities

With its highly-skilled multicultural talent, Victoria is the hub of our global ambitions.  We’ve invested more than $70 million in developing and validating, at scale, our innovative IoT solutions across our ever-increasing customer base in Asia – Pacific. Today, over 40,000 households are powered by Freestyle”

Mr Mohan Jesudason, Managing Director & CEO of Freestyle Technology Limited

To assist Freestyle Technology in their growth journey the Victorian Government has provided trade mission support to Asia and local networking opportunities.

The move follows news of global software developer, Two Bulls, who will expand their global HQ in Melbourne to deliver on a major development contract for IoT.
