Australia's largest paint manufacturer Dulux will invest A$165 million in a new facility in Melbourne's north.
Dulux is already a major employer in Victoria, with over 1,000 employees, and the new facility will add to this total with over 60 full time jobs planned for the manufacturing facility, and at least 200 indirect jobs to be created during the construction of the facility. It will be built in Merrifield Estate, located one hour north of the Melbourne city centre.
Dulux Group Managing Director, Patrick Houlihan said, "This is an important investment for DuluxGroup, which will set up our world class Dulux Australia paints business for decades to come. We're very pleased to have the support of the Victorian Government for this significant investment in manufacturing."
The investment was secured through financial support and facilitation provided by the Victorian State Government's investment promotion agency, Invest Victoria and the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources.
Premier of Victoria, Daniel Andrews said, "This is a huge investment in jobs and the future of manufacturing in Victoria."
Victoria has the largest manufacturing industry in Australia with approximately 30 percent of the country's manufacturing workers employed in Victoria.
Victoria's manufacturing sector encompasses a broad range of industries including automotive, advanced electronics and machinery, aerospace and aviation, defence, chemicals and plastics, pharmaceuticals, fabricated metals, textiles, clothing and footwear (TCF) and food processing.
