The Victorian Government has extended its partnership with a renowned North American innovation investment agency.

Coinciding with the Bio-Europe conference in Turin, Italy, the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) has launched the second round of the Building Global Bridges initiative.

Building Global Bridges is the Victorian arm of the MLSC's International Collaboration Industry Program.

The program is designed to connect Victorian life sciences companies with their counterparts in Massachusetts, which is home to many of the world's most advanced life sciences institutions and companies.

The Victorian Government has committed $1 million to the second round of the initiative. It is providing funding support of between A$75,000 and A$400,000 to successful local companies that are undertaking commercially-focused research and development projects with partner life sciences companies in Massachusetts.

Building Global Bridges is part of Victoria's Technology Plan for the Future – Biotechnology, a A$55 million plan to support the local life sciences industry and drive greater use of biotechnology across other industries.

Massachusetts partner companies will also be eligible for grant support of between US$75,000 and US$400,000 from the MLSC.>

Applications for Round 2 of the program close at 12:00 AM (midnight) on Tuesday 2 October 2014.
