Industry and Trade is a division within the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development (DIIRD). Industry and Trade provides free and confidential services designed for businesses wanting to invest in Victoria.

Investor support – including specialist advice on the business development approvals process; statutory approvals coordination; business site location services; business infrastructure and utility requirements; advice on the Victorian investment climate to internal and external investors; and continuing business client support.

Export Assistance Programs - Victorian companies planning to establish new export markets in North America, China, Japan, India or the Middle East may be eligible to use the Victorian Government's office facilities, including desk space and staff support, in San Francisco, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, Bangalore or Dubai.

The International Business Centre located in the city of Melbourne in the state of Victoria provides a range of business services that make it an ideal facility for companies wishing to do business in Victoria including:

Expatriate network – This is an expatriate network service provided by Advance - Global Australian Professionals in New York. Membership is free and open to all expatriates, repatriates and alumni of Victorian universities. Members receive quarterly newsletters. The service helps people living overseas to keep up to date with job opportunities, business updates, even the AFL football scores. It is targeted towards people who are thinking of moving back to Victoria, Victorian companies thinking of exporting overseas, and also foreign companies thinking of investing in Victoria.
