Investment opportunities in Victoria’s resources

In a bid to encourage further investment in Victoria’s rich resources, the Victorian Government will showcase the State’s opportunities at the Resources Victoria Conference in August.

With last year’s inaugural conference attracting more than 250 delegates from throughout Australia and abroad, Victorian Energy and Resources Minister Peter Batchelor announced the Government would again be the principal sponsor of the event in Melbourne.
“The economic climate has changed significantly since the last conference and it is vital we continue to promote Victoria’s abundant resources to ensure investors are aware of the opportunities available,” Mr Batchelor said.
“The Resources Victoria Conference provides the perfect opportunity to showcase major investment opportunities for both emerging and established resources in Victoria.
“It also provides a great platform to inform industry about the world-class geological information being produced by GeoScience Victoria to help industry more easily pinpoint commercial resources.
“Victoria’s earth resources sector has undergone significant growth in recent years through new projects for existing commodities such as gold, oil and gas, to emerging industries such as mineral sands, geological storage of carbon and geothermal energy.”
Mr Batchelor said despite the challenging economic conditions, Victoria continued to attract investment in earth resources, with commitment to major mineral sands, and gas and oil projects in the past six months.
“The resources sector is a significant contributor to our economy through both investment and jobs, particularly in regional Victoria, and we are committed to continuing to help build a robust and diverse resources sector in Victoria.”
The conference is being organised by Paydirt Media and will be held at the Hilton on the Park Hotel from August 17-19.
