Cut-price international grocery warehouse Costco will open its first Australian store at Melbourne’s Docklands Waterfront City in July, five months ahead of schedule.

Costco’s $60 million Docklands project will operate on a membership model which has already proved itself at over 535 locations in its home-base of America and around the world.
Joining Costco Australia Manager, Patrick Noone for the announcement, Victorian Industry and Trade Minister Martin Pakula inspected construction of the new store.
“This is a great development that will provide the Victorian economy with a significant boost just when it is most needed.
“The new Costco investment joins nearly $24.6 billion of projects facilitated by the Victorian Government since in took office in October 1999, equating to 60,486 new jobs,” Mr Pakula said.
“Investment in the local retail industry has been strong totalling a massive $1.8 billion over the past 12 months.”
