Victoria’s food industry is set to tantalise tastebuds and demonstrate its superior quality in the USA this month.

Victorian Regional and Rural Development Minister Jacinta Allan said nine Victorian companies will travel to the US today to showcase their produce at the 34th Winter Fancy Foods Show in San Francisco.
“Americans love our produce because it is top-quality, low-cost, clean, green and has a distinctive Aussie flavour,” Ms Allan said.
“This year the flavour is primarily Indigenous, organic and indulgent, all of which we believe will appeal to Americans who are increasing their purchase of Victorian specialty food products.”
Ms Allan said the US is now Victoria’s third-largest export destination for food products, with a rise in niche products.
“International figures show Victorian food exports to the US grew from $377 million in 2000 to about $765 million in 2007, and wine exports grew from $55 million to about $159 million in the same period,” she said.
“The Fancy Foods Show provides us with an important opportunity to enable Victorian businesses to tap into the $34 billion US specialty food market, which is estimated to be growing at 7-8% each year.”
The nine leading Victorian companies to showcase their unique products at the Show from 18 – 20 January are:
|
