Victoria’s clean energy potential is on show to nearly 2,000 investor and industry delegates from Australia and around the world, at the All-Energy Australia ’09 conference which took place in Melbourne this week.

Delegates were welcomed to the conference by the Victorian Energy and Resources Minister Peter Batchelor, saying that this was the first time the event had been held outside the UK, which underlined Victoria’s position of leadership in a range of future energy technologies.
“The conference and exhibition will be the biggest and most prestigious clean energy event in the Asia Pacific region,” Mr Batchelor said.
“The fact that Victoria has been able to attract a conference of this calibre shows the interest and confidence in Victoria’s clean energy potential.”
More than 100 speakers, from Australia and overseas, will participate in the event, with topics ranging from renewables such as solar, marine and geothermal to clean coal and international investment attraction.
The Minister said that Victoria has huge renewable resource potential and the Victorian Government is assisting industry to invest in developing the technologies needed to unlock this potential.
“This conference is the perfect platform to showcase our existing work around clean energy and our resource prospects, while at the same time highlighting to industry delegates why Victoria is a great place to live and work.
“I welcome all the delegates and speakers and I hope many will take the time to also visit parts of regional Victoria, where clean energy projects are already underway and there is strong potential for new projects.”
Mr Batchelor said that Victoria had long been at the forefront of renewable energy investment in Australia.
“We are providing up to $100 million to develop a solar power station, giving $72 million to support large scale renewable energy demonstration projects and have introduced the Victorian Renewable Energy Target which has attracted over $2 billion of investment and created over 2,000 jobs.”
The business to business conference includes exhibits from almost 100 organisations. For more information about the conference, please visit www.all-energy.com.au |
